Agave, a species of plants with, large, sword-like leaves and mostly succulent rosettes that produce agave nectar. There about 50 types of agaves, such as the geminiflora, montana, salmiana, victoriae-reginae and the bovicornuta. These are very common plants around the Chihuahuan desert area.
The dominant plant species throughout the Chihuahuan desert is creosote bush. Depending on the conditions of the area, the creosote bush can be found among other species. The tarbush and viscid acacia is common in the northernmost area of the Chihuahuan desert. The southern portion is rich in yucca and opuntia, fire-barrel cactus and Arizona rainbow cactus. In western Coahuila Staten (Mexico), lechuguilla, prosopis glandulosa and opuntia macrocentra and echinocereus pectinatus are not unusual.
